I support the idea of increasing American manufacturing. I believe we've become too dependent on imports, and national security requires strengthening our capacity to manufacture goods of all sorts domestically.
Trump's tariffs are unlikely to achieve that goal. It hasn't worked in the past and it isn't going to work now. What it's going to do, instead, is tank the American economy and make us even more of a pariah state.
