Today's picture was taken on a rainy summer day in Montreuil-sur-Mer, in Picardy. The building on the left is the Hôtel de France, where Victor Hugo stayed in 1837. The town made such a strong impression on him that he set most of the first volume of Les Misérables here, and immortalised many of the events and people he'd encountered.
The town was also the HQ of the British Army from 1916 till the end of WW1.
