The way it is now (not anyone's fault) is that overwhelmingly we have BTC/Crypto stuff and memes. Most of the memes are BTC. It's too monoculture to attract people. Writing poetry mixed with a few Zen pieces for over half a year was an interesting experiment on here. In the end, I met some very cool people but I didn't get much traction. That doesn't matter to me because I developed my writing and had a ton of fun.

I recently started posting my writing mainly on my website with a repost on Substack and I post an excerpt on Nostr with a link. I've had a multiplicatively higher response on Substack in a short time than I ever did here. That's not indicative of a problem on Nostr. It's just indicative of the strong tie-in with BTC (Zaps) on here.

The general public isn't going to go for crypto because they do not understand it. They don't understand it because they don't make any effort to understand in their daily lives. Why? Because they are accustomed to being fed a story from FB$, G$, A$, etc. feeds. Easy mode is attractive because it requires little to no effort. Hard truths but not new truths.

Getting involved with BTC took time and some suggestions and help from for me to get going. I put in the effort and understand it as much as I need/want to at this point. Most people won't do it, think BTC is for criminals (because the media tells them so) and see no value in it.

If we can get more people doing other things on here, then it will open up Nostr for more people. At the moment though, I would be shooting myself in the foot if I got rid of my website or stopped posting to Substack.

My take. Plain and simple. Now on to Dogen and the Shobogenzo and a git of Grimm's.
