Mozilla understands this well. They’re trying to cling on to survive for as long as they can but I think their fate is pretty much sealed. Yes Firefox is the least worst option for browser choice, but ultimately it is just a life raft for an otherwise sinking ship.
And a life raft is just there to help you survive long enough to transition to something else but not stay on it forever
