When I was a child we were promised flying cars and rocket jetpacks in the futuristic 21st century. Now that we're deeply stuck into that scifi future it turns out that all kinds of technological miracles are possible! But we can't have them, because to own them (or, too often, subscribe to them) involves bizarre surveillance demands wrapped in thousands of words of densely-hostile legalese, or outright submission to indignities against basic autonomy and privacy. I am left growling. A lot.
