Yes, there are casuality issues, but the main issue is how you look at success. What counts? You claim that the enviromental movement has been largely unsuccesful. But they have won a lot of political gains, sometimes directly related to disruptive actions. Of course, not only trough those actions, which is a quite important distinction.

As for dispuptive actions, the main question is disruptive for whom and how. Do you consider performative actions like JSOs paint-throwing disruptive? For whom? How does it affect anything? Compared to Greenpeace actions that directly target the places where the pollution happen (like climbing the pipes of coal plant)?
Or compared to the more classic disruptive tactics like a labour strike or an urban riot?
