Thanks Asheville, I'm with you on all of this in principle - and I'm all for a federated internet, but the public seem to find Mastodon too clunky to get on board with.
I'm on the verge of deleting my account here, as like-for-like effort/activity to engagement ratios are far poorer here than, say, Bluesky.
Sadly our monopolised media is stifled by too-dominant Big Tech.
