npub1f8ufv4euhwf6ty3h5k2sa6en7ch6wjcdp2slpy2ufzlanutqpu7s5mcgqt (npub1f8u…cgqt) hmm. i encounter this objection a lot. hasn’t it been refuted? i.e. evolutionary biology does not admit that humans are innately competitive or cooperative–but the scientific evidence certainly is clear that cooperative social structures are to be preferred evolutionarily.
i.e. it is very widely accepted that species which cooperate through complex social patterns have a strong tendency to better environmental adaptation.
i have looked into this objection. it stems from a misunderstanding about what ‘selection’, and ‘fittest’ means. at its most horrible, it is simply what the arch conservative herbert spencer did to ‘darwinism’–it assumes ‘fittest’ means ‘most successful in competition’.
when in fact darwin never said anything like that at all.
