Having a teacher or friend who speaks the language is great. However, watching Netflix, YouTube, or iQIYI without reading subtitles is too challenging for me.
Compared to Malaysian, Indonesian, Filipino, their languages use Latin alphabet and don't have tones. Vietnamese has tones but they use Latin alphabet. Khmer doesn't have tones at least.
