I use Patreon even though they banned me (which I'm still fuckin' pissy about it), but the audacity to ask for $5 a month for their content really rubs me the wrong way. It's just not a good value proposition, and I don't see it as being much different from what Watcher did when they pull the crap that you're referencing. Plus they use Vimeo for their exclusive content, which is also just a usability nightmare.
