I'm of the belief that this was the main purpose behind the US getting involved in the Russia/Ukraine conflict. The euro is #2 behind the USD in international trade and currency denominated debt. No other currency comes close. And for all intents and purposes, Germany is the euro. USD faction taking out the competition.
And by that standard, US involvement in this conflict was a success. Plus, the war has weakened Russia's military which makes it harder for them to offer protection to the Saudis which is currently the US' job under the petrodollar arrangement
