"It's quite interesting that a lot of people who emphasizes on the necessity of technology in the context of politics and governance especially when there is tensions between the nation-state and technology. In the book with the name, 'Machine and Sovereignty: For a Planetary Thinking' which is a book written by Yuk Hui, it says: 'We have emphasized that sovereignty is that which dwells in the megamachine and that which attempts to take control of it from within. When the sovereign loses control of the megamachine, there is no longer sovereignty...The megamachine evolves, and sovereignty has to renew itself in order to catch up with new types of machinery. The sovereign is always in tension with the megamachine while, at the same time, it cannot do without the megamachine.' This isn't a promotion of the luddite approach, at the same time, maintaining a degree of aversion towards technology is needed whilst 'riding the tiger' where these new forms of technologies have impacted us."
