Indeed, fiat is socialized currency. I don't automatically assume that all socialized things are bad, but the current money system surely is. For the last hundred years or so, it's become an even worse semi-privatized money system: Politicians have abdicated the right to issue currency, and are now essentially commanded by the banks to endlessly _borrow_ the imaginary money that the bankers create.
