I don't love that Carly Nelson had to take mental health leave, but I love that she was able to take mental health leave. The #NWSL is, as far as I know, the only American professional sports league that provides paid mental health leave.
Credit goes to the NWSL Players Association who fought for it as part of their 2022 collective bargaining agreement.
