No offence to the Yemenis, I love the Houthis harassment of the US Navy, but that country has had serious problems for a long long time and we’ve only just pipped them in the rankings here.

You can either maintain dollar hegemony (as Trump has insisted he wants), or you can reshore manufacturing (which Trump also insists he wants) - but you can’t do both.
Unfortunately for the world I think you’re going to dollarise allies and create a new shitty new empire of nations who will enable a Frankenstein model where the US tries to do both at ever increasing expense to the vassal states.
It’s going to be awful for everyone involved, and those on the other side of the new dollar curtain will be better off than those inside.
