A local mill run by a small Vancouver BC forestry company has been caught using TFWs housed in disgusting conditions, paying exorbitant rent, on company property. No running water.
The workers apparently paid $30,000 to get to Canada and were promised $30/hr.
Instead they were essentially slave labour. Making minimum wage but paying a bunch of it back to the company in rent.
This mill is brand new, the company came in to town claiming they would hire local people and provide good paying jobs.
Now we find out they are working with immigration "subcontractors" and might be benefiting from human traffickers?
