Two Chinese scientists have been arrested by the FBI on charges of “agroterrorism.”
Yunqing Jian, a 33-year-old scientist at the University of Michigan, and her boyfriend, Zunyong Liu, 34, are accused of smuggling a fungus called Fusarium graminearum, which can infect food products such as wheat, barley, and rice with “skeletal flu,” potentially causing vomiting, liver damage, and reproductive defects in both humans and animals.
