2. The body breaks down with age
3. Pain is a nuisance that must be muted
4. Pain means damage is happening
5. The body is flawed and requires artificial inputs to function properly
6. The body is too complex for me to understand so I need “experts” to help me
These false beliefs create obstacles to health progress
