Imagine someone gives you some sats, but they’re not really sats, they’re just a placeholder for some sats you could potentially own, but only if you withdraw them back to your own wallet that isn’t connected to the computer on which the private keys are stored that you don’t control. In exchange for the lack of final settlement you get more transactional privacy. That’s basically what it is.
