I don't get it. Now it's less flexible than before, because everyone has to implement that endpoint, whereas the user address itself (user@host) can be resolved to whatever anyone wants in the future. You can still self-host it and point to all the options, and then point it to a different provider, too.

(Has to be slightly adjusted depending on the situation, but not by much.)
