My commentary on Clarke-Doane's book 'Mathematics and Morality' has appeared in PPR #OpenAccess: 'The relevance of salience for the epistemology of mathematics'. Broadly speaking, it's an application of the epistemology of attention to math.
I ask: why do we become interested in, and pay attention to, certain mathematical concepts over others? The answer combines history of math, anthropology & more: math as intertwined w broader social, cultural and economic factors.
