Somewhere someone posted the thought that due to the fact that we humans live for like eight or more generations of cats, dogs and many other animals, we are basically to their world what elves and dwarfs are for humans in fantasy settings, those big, mythical near-immortal creatures.
That's kinda fun and romantic in a way.
But now spin that further:
We could, to them, be titans that protect life.
Titans that feed and protect them, their children, their children.
