I graduated high school in 2019 too. I'd say it was closer to 20 people that I personally knew of, in a school of about 1200. We had pride flags, lots of messaging about equality and tolerance, and we had a gender unicorn come to our (mandated to graduate) health class and teach us about the gender spectrum.

I'm not saying this because I want to be argumentative - but the youth is being hurt. The hormones of the average teenager, and even american in general, are being damaged by a number of different factors. The prevelance of pornography also plays a role in this.

I've been to bars here (BTV) where my girlfriend has been harassed in the bathroom by a 40 year old man wearing a dress, and nobody bats an eye. I've seen peers go into massive medical debt to undergo procedures which effectively sterilize them. I've worked with coworkers on hormone therapy who talk about depression, headaches, and joint pain (from high testosterone in a female body).

Again, for the people who legitimately just want to live their own way, good on them. No problem from me. But this isn't some kind of liberation movement. This broad cultural trend is the result of a lot of unhealthy physical, mental, and social dynamics which we should be cautious of or work to reverse.
