I'm always surprised when people say they read a 20-25,000 word story in an hour or something.
Like, sure, it's a short book, but I'd still read it over a couple of days unless I were really gripped.
I know I'm slower than most academics, but I have an Eng Lit degree. I don't think I read *that* slowly.
When I freelanced I could proofread around 5,000 words an hour (depending on complexity); I haven't timed myself outside that, tho.
Any other 'slow' readers out there? Tell me I'm not alone!
