If you’ve ever wondered why Florida is so weird and why Florida Man is such a thing, I have researched for you and can reveal… it’s not and it isn’t. Florida isn’t meaningfully more or less weird than the other states but where it does differ is transparency. Florida journalists have much stronger rights to know the details of criminal accusations and police responses than those in other states, so if a guy smokes all the meth he can afford and tries to fingerbang a bear, the police are compelled to answer journalist questions, provide mugshots etc.
