a discounted year from a subscription based cloud service is basically just the same as a «free fix» from a drug dealer.
doesn't matter if it's a «good» provider (tuta) or an «evil» one (daddygo, google, apple, netflix, you name it): it's just a way to get one hooked; once they get your data, most people will just agree to (almost) any pricing games to keep things simply working, because migration is expensive in money, time & effort.
