On this day in 1998, M/V Flare sank off the coast of Newfoundland at Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon.
The bulk carrier broke in two during a storm, killing 21 crew. The stern sank immediately, the bow drifted for days & sank near Cape Breton.
Only four crew members survived.
