The Spanish setup is just plain weird, but SNCF/Eurostar actively try to discourage Interrail on their trains, as they don’t see it as a valid revenue stream. I don’t have these issues with NS, or SCNB, or DB. And once you get past the reservation requirements, the actual SNCF/Eurostar/AVE staff don’t care at all.\n\nI suppose the other attitude is “Railways should turn a profit”.
