To be totally fair, some of the problem was due to the nginx config. There was a tiny note about a change that has to be made in it when using docker. I hope that after changing that setting things will smooth out. Still I wish the setup was better packaged and would work bit better out of the box. Aka mastodon instance for dummies. 🙃
