My daughter's school is retrofitting a lift into the building. It's very difficult work and it's probably going to be ugly as a result. This is what happens when you later try to build #accessibility into your product after it's been built and is in the wild. Don't do it this way if you can help it. Accessibility isn't just for Christmas, it should be forever. From day 0.
Add the lift to your building from the start. Add accessibility to your product from the start. Do this, and your bolt-on actions won't come back to bite you at a later date, nor will they likely be ugly as sin.
