I think idealism is great -- and a lot of people from that era haven't lost it, I like to think I haven't -- but we live in a dangerous time. Imagining psychopaths won't take advantage of earnest intentions is too big of a gamble for me. We need idealism tempered by pragmatism. This, as I see it, means gradualism, even in an era of profound climate crisis. Especially in such an era.

BTW, I agree that Boeing is an example of insiders betraying the public trust.
