Yep, I know this :) Sadly I new everything from the page before stumbling upon it...

The vertices map directly to a square grid, that's e.g. just how I store the terrain, as a 2D array that corresponds to a skewed rectangle in world coordinates.

The edges are a bit trickier though, there's a 1-to-3 mapping between the vertices and the edges, you just need to pick one.
