the mammary gland is an evolved version of the sweat gland.
so mammals essentially "decided" that, hey, how about i feed my offspring with a sweat-like substance.
so if you ever smelled a glass of milk and thought, hm, this reminds me a little of sweat or stinky toes, that's why.
