The way I’m understanding this, you’re arguing that violence has always won? Which is a fair point, but maybe even a stronger argument against the State. Just like said, the US colonies never had a choice of being stateless. They were colonies of a state and then became a state with a ruling class (white men). You see, the vast majority of people had no feasible way of showing their discontent.

I see anarchy as a form of liberation from violence. I mean the civil rights movement(s) were exactly that: the oppressed mobilizing and emancipating themselves by liberating themselves from that violence. They weren’t completely successful because they remained subjugated to the State, just not as disadvantaged as before. Maybe the change we need is something akin to the civil rights movement, but a bit more radical in that it renders the state unable to suppress the revolting masses.
