I’ve all but completely abandoned “big social” media altogether (still use a couple for music reasons), and I don’t miss it at all.
On the #fediverse, I can just leisurely scroll around, engage with whomever I choose, have pleasant discourse, then put it away. There’s no feeling of, “I have to say something so everyone knows I’m alive and well.” It’s relaxing. And as an unexpected bonus, the people here are genuine and kind.
This, to me, is what social media should be like.
