This was at a time when shops closed at 6pm on weekdays, except one evening a week when they closed at 9pm. So I had one evening a week and Saturdays to do my grocery shopping and run errands, just like everyone else who worked regular office hours... At least shopping hours are a lot more flexible these days and of course there's online shopping.
