Back before mobile phones or the internet, being an independent traveller was a whole different experience.
I remember turning up on a Greek island, late one afternoon, and wandering around the village asking "Domatio?" of the locals in a hopeful sort of way. I ended up in this lovely, old-fashioned room, with battered mahogany furniture, a lumpy bed, some artificial flowers, an old Black & White ashtray, and this mirror.

Such are memories...
