Someone asked "what's that" and I was a bit puzzled at first because it wasn't a star I knew and then I said "I think it's Mars?"
I was met with hoots of derision. But no - it was reddish and roughly the right brightness, and an app confirmed it.
I was very smug, but really I think they were just amazed you could see Mars with the naked eye?
