I’ve got a strategic brain… I spend a lot of my time thinking (sometimes overthinking things) but there really isn’t much to over think here. A key rule in trading is IF this THEN this. This isn’t about TikTok.
I’m sorry but IF this bill and the UK Online Safety Bill are passed THEN democratic values are likely heading to the rear view mirror. You have to understand past actions, history and the way these types of things get interpreted to set future precedent. It’s naïveté of everyone to dismiss this as anything other than the western world, (that our grandparents fought for) collapsing to authoritarian ideology. Which btw you might think is fine if “your guy” or “your party” is in charge but unfortunately in a democracy others can get voted in… and with this power chaos can ensue.
These acts put us on a path to a repeat a dark history as populism and fascism will rise faster with this in place. We knew this decade that democratic principles and values would be tested to extremes and so far 25% of the way in it’s clear we’re losing our way.
Got to hope that policy makers and principled based politicians stay true to who we are.
