Prelude to installing a good OS:
1. boot from a usb thumb into a ramdisk kernel
2. unplug and plug the usb disk back again for kernel to notice the device
3. now filesets can be accessed and installation proceed.
That's why I prefer to do away with words 'just' and 'simply' when discussing technology.
