I'm annoyed now. I am type 2 diabetic, so I understand it, and when my husband showed all the signs I did him a prick test that was 11.9.
I advised him to speak to the doctor, but all he got was the usual (incorrect) high carb, low protein/fat diet recommendations and a delay of at least three months before any investigation.
He needs to stop drinking, stop eating high sugar treats, be more active, lose weight... all well and good, but you would think a proper blood test would be called for.
