AWS rolled out a thing somewhere around 11:10 Am mountain, and totally broke AWS. After we eventually convinced the there was a problem, the official recommendation was "don't make mutations to AWS, and the load will decrease."
Mutations meaning, auto-scaling, spinning up any ec2 at all, having lambdas run, adding or deleting dns records, trying to tear down any ec2 instances.
