It seems to me that once an entity becomes established as wealthy, there becomes little difference between competition and protectionism, to that entity.

In other words, competition between wealthy entities should be found in their protectionist methods.

Hence monopolies. Hence billionaires. Hence societies falling apart.

Tldr; Competition here is not equal to competition there. Especially when wealth is involved.
