Well, I finally did it! I built a VIC-20 Bulletin Board System in my garage and put it up on the Internet (the Live Wire BBS)! You can visit it by firing up your VIC-20 (with a WiFi Modem) and going to:

It's fairly complete at this point (only file transfers are missing) and I'll be improving it and updating it over the next several months.

Give it a try if you feel inclined! It will also work on a C64 or C128!
