The technology is not really the issue; no one likes writing the import/export parts of services because they are tricky and not that interesting.
If Gagron had some experience here, he would have known to queue this and have a chunk-based migration linked to server load, like WordPress learned to do.
I am waiting to see if my old posts can be saved; if not, no migration will be needed.
