Izzy, our fearful rescue Springer spaniel, for reasons known only to her, loves to roll over in relatively fresh asphalt. (She will also roll over in bird poop.) I have no idea why she likes the smell of asphalt – most dogs avoid it. But you can see from the video here how enthusiastic she is about this. Luckily, it doesn't seem that the smell really gets on her coat. (This asphalt is about two months old, but she still likes to roll in it.)
