Reason 256 why we need decentralized tech: Google/YouTube wouldn’t allow Rabble (npub1wmr…g240) or myself to authenticate our accounts to post the 1h28m hackathon demos video from #nostropical after #nostrica. Despite all our security layers, 2fa, etc. Google basically said since we’re here in Costa Rica outside our “normal” geographic pattern of login we could not upload the video.
It’s like being punished for travel. Which feels so wrong to TCK/global nomad types like us.
So we used #peertube to host the video which was direct, secure and simple. (Hackathon crowd-favorite voting going live now.)
Rabble set up his own video hosting instance on a CDN in about 20 minutes to host his talk: https://iframe.mediadelivery.net/play/107596/a126b554-551f-42dc-a992-0b515883e479
Both ways more indie & liberating than dealing with YouTube.
