My kid has an Android device and the storage was full after seemingly very little use. Even more weirdly, the System was using over 50GB! In comparison, my own phone's System uses 12GB.
Everyone in the top search results were mystified, with the most common actionable solution being "do a factory reset". One person even proclaimed "you should be doing a factory reset at least yearly!"
Well, I deleted several multi-hour downloaded YouTube videos (12 hour lullabies) and boom, it was fixed!
