It’s a shit deal because the reimbursements for primary care have gotten so bad, and keep getting LOWERED despite inflation and increasing operating costs. This results in those folks having to see waaaaaaay more patients per day to take the same pay home.
Luckily for govt/insurers they have constructed a brilliant serf system with regards to medical training so physicians (a) can’t quit right away since most of us graduate with astronomical student debt and (b) can’t pivot easily to another field.
Direct primary care (DPC) is rapidly expanding and I’m concerned that the preventative care system is headed for two tiers eventually. Those that have that DPC and those that get substandard care.
If I were to open my own shop. I would only consider DPC on a Bitcoin standard.
