You can count on it, Tim. I didn't want to come home. It was also an experiment, me becoming acquainted with winter hiking. I was more than adequately attired, but discovered the old pack that gets me by in summer fails in winter.
The packed snow meant that traction wasn't a problem, but I am now wondering about carrying snowshoes with me (which I now have, along with poles). Do you strap them to the outside of your pack until you need them?
